Ham Radio Technician Exam Prep is an independently developed educational application designed to help users prepare for the amateur radio Technician Class licensing examination.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is stored or processed when you use the app, how third-party advertising services may process information, and the choices available to you.
1. Local-First Study Data
The core study functionality of Ham Radio Technician Exam Prep is designed to work offline.
The app does not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, phone number, or other personal profile information to use its study features.
Your study information is stored locally on your Android device. This includes information such as:
- Question practice history
- Leitner spaced-repetition box levels
- Bookmarks
- Study progress
- Study streak information
- Daily study preferences
- Mock-exam history and scores
- App preferences and settings
This study information is stored in the app’s local database and is not synchronized by us to a cloud server or external database.
We do not operate a user account system or our own cloud database for your study data.
The core question pool and educational resources are also packaged for local use, allowing the study functionality to continue when an internet connection is unavailable.
However, the app may use an internet connection for third-party advertising and consent-management services as described below.
2. Advertising and Third-Party Services
The free version of the app uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertising, including banner, native, interstitial, and rewarded advertisements.
Because AdMob is a third-party advertising service, Google may collect and process certain information automatically when advertisements are requested, displayed, interacted with, or otherwise processed.
Depending on the applicable Google Mobile Ads SDK configuration and the user’s device and consent choices, this may include information such as:
- IP address
- Android advertising ID and other device/account identifiers
- App and advertising interactions
- Diagnostic and performance information
- Information associated with advertisements, such as impressions and interactions

3. Advertising Consent and Privacy Choices
The app uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage applicable advertising consent requirements.
For users in regions where Google’s consent requirements apply, including the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the consent process may provide choices regarding personalized advertising and the processing of information for advertising purposes. You can access the app’s advertising privacy options through:

Where applicable, you can use this privacy-options entry point to review or change your advertising consent choices. Google notes that applicable consent must be revocable and that apps should provide a way for users to modify their privacy choices. (Google for Developers)

4. Internet and Network Access
The app may request Android network permissions such as:
INTERNETACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
These permissions are used primarily to support third-party advertising and consent-management functionality.
Your core study progress does not require an account or our own cloud synchronization service.
When the app is operating without network connectivity, locally available study functionality can continue to operate without contacting our servers.
5. Notifications and Daily Study Reminders
The app provides an optional daily study reminder.
If you enable reminders and grant the applicable Android notification permission, the app uses Android’s local scheduling facilities to schedule the reminder on your device.
The reminder system uses your locally stored study preferences and progress to determine when a reminder is appropriate. It does not require a user account or our own notification server.
Depending on your Android version and device settings, notification permission may be required before reminders can be displayed.
You can disable notifications at any time through Android’s notification settings or the app’s available reminder settings.
6. Data Retention
Study data stored locally by the app remains on your device until you delete it.
You can remove your locally stored study information using the app’s:
Operator Settings → Reset All Progress
This removes the applicable locally stored progress, including items such as:
- Leitner box progress
- Bookmarks
- Study streak information
- Practice history
- Mock-exam history
Uninstalling the app or clearing its Android app storage will also remove locally stored application data, subject to Android’s normal device behavior and backup mechanisms.
7. Information We Do Not Collect Directly
We do not operate a user registration system and do not directly collect or maintain:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your telephone number
- Your physical address
- Your amateur-radio callsign
- A user profile
- Your locally stored study history on our own servers
The app’s advertising functionality is provided by Google, however, and Google’s advertising SDK may process device and advertising-related information as described in Section 2.
8. Children’s Privacy
The app is an educational examination-preparation application and is not specifically directed toward children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a user-account system because the app does not require users to create an account or submit personal information to us.
Advertising services may have their own requirements concerning age-directed advertising and applicable privacy regulations. Users and parents/guardians should review Google’s applicable policies where relevant.
9. Third-Party Privacy Policies
The app relies on third-party services for advertising and consent management. Their handling of information is governed by their respective policies.

10. Security
Locally stored study information is maintained within the app’s private Android application storage.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app’s functionality, third-party services, or applicable requirements change.
When changes are made, the Last Updated date at the top of this policy will be updated.
