Instead of treating jokes as static blocks of text, Daily Jokes turns each routine into a small stand-up performance — complete with pacing, voice, sound effects, haptics, reactions, and a daily spotlight.

Most joke apps give you a paragraph and expect you to do the rest.
Daily Jokes treats a joke more like a performance.
Each routine is broken into sequential beats:
Setup → Pause → Punchline
Tap through the setup, let the anticipation build, and reveal the punchline when you’re ready.
For hands-free reading, Auto-Forward can take care of the pacing while still stopping at the punchline.
The app currently ships with 2,000+ curated comedy routines across 7 categories, giving the feed enough variety to keep the experience moving.

The Joke of the Day isn’t simply a random joke selected whenever you open the app.
Daily Jokes uses a deterministic date-based system to select the day’s routine, so the same daily joke is presented consistently throughout that day.
The daily spotlight is shared across the app’s experiences — including the feed, notification and home-screen widget.
And because the selection system works across the full catalog, the app is designed to rotate through its collection rather than repeatedly serving the same handful of jokes.

The app includes an optional sensory layer designed to make reading a joke feel more like watching a stand-up routine.

You can write a routine, save it locally, and use the built-in rehearsal controls to test its delivery with different comedy sound cues.
It’s not just a joke reader.

Daily Jokes has a dedicated Liked Collection where saved routines can be browsed separately from your personal notebook.
Your collection can also be filtered by comedy category, making it easy to build your own little comedy library over time.

Put the Daily Joke directly on your Android home screen and jump into the day’s routine with one tap. The widget uses the same daily-joke selection as the main app.

Set a time that works for you — morning coffee, lunch break, evening commute, or whenever you need a laugh.
The app schedules the daily reminder locally on the device.
So instead of remembering to open another app, the joke can come looking for you.

Daily Jokes includes built-in sharing tools for turning routines into shareable comedy cards.
There are multiple visual formats, including a Golden VIP Ticket, along with a WhatsApp-friendly spoiler format that keeps the punchline hidden until the recipient reveals it.

Sound cues and visual styling can be configured from the sensory settings.
The idea is simple: if you’re going to spend a few minutes consuming jokes, it might as well feel like you’re somewhere fun.
Built offline-first.
The comedy catalog is bundled directly with the application.
Your favorites, reactions, notebook routines, preferences and other app state are stored locally using Android’s on-device storage architecture.
There is no Daily Jokes account to create and no cloud account required for the core comedy experience.
The app does use Google AdMob for advertising, including native feed ads and optional rewarded ads. A voluntary 15-second rewarded video can unlock the 24-hour VIP Backstage Pass, which removes sponsored feed cards and unlocks additional VIP experiences.
Built as a small experiment in digital comedy.
Underneath the jokes is a surprisingly involved little Android project.

The UI uses a vertical, swipe-driven feed inspired by modern short-form media apps, while the comedy engine handles sequential beats, daily selection, pacing, audio, haptics and local persistence.
It’s deliberately designed to feel more like an experience than a database of jokes.
The idea
I didn’t want to build another app where you open a screen, read some text, scroll, and leave.
I wanted to see what happens when something as simple as a joke gets treated like a tiny piece of interactive entertainment.
Timing matters.
Anticipation matters.
Sound matters.
The punchline matters.
Daily Jokes is my take on that idea.
