Daily Jokes is an offline-first comedy app designed to give you jokes without requiring an account or collecting personal information from you.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how third-party advertising services used by the app work.
1. Information We Collect
Daily Jokes does not create user accounts and does not directly collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or precise location.
The app stores your app activity locally on your device, including:
- Jokes you mark as liked
- Emoji reactions
- Joke viewing and progress information
- Your daily comedy streak
- Jokes and routines you create in My Comedy Notebook
- Your selected comedy categories
- Audio, haptic, theme and auto-forward preferences
- Your daily reminder time
- Advertising-related app state, such as the timing of advertisements and VIP unlock status
This information is used to operate and personalize the app.
2. Local Storage
Daily Jokes includes its comedy catalog directly within the application.
The app uses an on-device SQLite database through Android Room and Android DataStore for local application data.
Your Liked Collection, reactions, viewing history, preferences and My Comedy Notebook routines are stored locally on your device.
The app does not require an online account or cloud account to use these features.
The app also explicitly excludes its local joke database from Android’s automatic backup configuration, so the app’s local database is not restored through the configured Android backup rules.
3. Internet Connectivity
The core comedy catalog is packaged with the application. The Joke of the Day is calculated locally from the bundled joke catalog, and the same daily joke is used by the feed, notification and home-screen widget.
You can therefore browse the core joke catalog without an internet connection.
Internet connectivity is used for Google AdMob advertising when advertisements are available.
If an advertisement cannot be loaded, the app has an offline fallback rather than requiring an advertisement for the comedy experience.
4. Advertising
Daily Jokes uses Google AdMob to display advertising.
The app uses two types of advertisements:
- Native advertisements displayed within the comedy feed
- Rewarded video advertisements that users can voluntarily watch to unlock the 24-hour VIP Backstage Pass
The AdMob SDK is initialized by the application, and the app requests native and rewarded advertisements through Google’s Mobile Ads SDK.
Because advertisements are provided by Google, Google may process device and advertising information as part of providing, measuring, preventing abuse of, and personalizing advertising services.
This information is handled by Google under Google’s own privacy practices. Daily Jokes does not control the information collected directly by Google’s advertising technology.
The app does not sell your personal information.
5. VIP Backstage Pass
Daily Jokes offers an optional 24-hour VIP Backstage Pass.
The pass is unlocked by voluntarily watching a rewarded advertisement.
The reward removes sponsored feed cards for 24 hours and unlocks additional app features, including premium theme and sound options.
The app records the VIP unlock state locally on your device.
6. Notifications
Daily Jokes provides an optional Daily Comedy Delivery reminder.
When you enable the reminder, the app schedules an Android alarm at your selected time and generates the daily joke notification on your device.
The reminder does not require an account or a server-side notification profile.
On Android 13 and newer, the app requests the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission before sending notifications.
You can disable notifications through the app or your Android notification settings.
7. Home Screen Widget
Daily Jokes provides an Android home-screen widget.
The widget displays the locally determined Joke of the Day and can open the corresponding joke inside the app.
The widget does not require a separate account or user profile.
8. Audio, Voice and Haptics
Daily Jokes includes optional sensory features such as:
- Text-to-Speech joke narration
- Sound effects
- Punchline sound cues
- Haptic feedback
- Auto-forward pacing
The narrator uses Android’s built-in Text-to-Speech functionality. Sound effects are generated locally by the app’s audio engine, and haptic feedback uses Android’s device vibration/haptic functionality.
Daily Jokes does not use the microphone to record or monitor conversations.
9. Your Comedy Notebook
My Comedy Notebook allows you to write and save your own comedy routines.
Notebook routines are stored locally in the app’s Room database.
They are not uploaded to a Daily Jokes account or associated with an online user profile.
You can delete your notebook entries from within the app.
10. Sharing
Daily Jokes lets you copy or share jokes and generate branded joke images.
When you choose to share content, Android’s standard sharing mechanism passes the content to the application you select.
Once content has been shared with another application or service, that service’s privacy policy governs how it handles the shared content.
Daily Jokes does not control how another application handles content you choose to share.
11. Permissions
Daily Jokes uses Android permissions only for functionality that requires them.
The notification permission is used for daily comedy reminders.
The app’s audio, haptic, widget and reminder features operate through Android’s corresponding system APIs.
Daily Jokes does not need access to your contacts or precise location for its core functionality.
12. Third-Party Services
The primary third-party service used for advertising is:
Google Mobile Ads / AdMob
AdMob is responsible for the delivery and processing associated with advertisements shown in the app.
Google’s handling of information through its advertising services is governed by Google’s privacy policies and applicable settings and controls provided by Google.
The Google Play Store also processes information according to Google’s policies when you download, update, purchase from, or otherwise interact with the app through Google Play.
13. Data Security
Daily Jokes keeps its application data locally on your device and does not maintain a Daily Jokes user account database.
The security of locally stored information also depends on the security of your Android device, including its screen lock and operating-system security.
Information processed by third-party services such as Google AdMob is protected according to those services’ security practices.
14. Data Deletion
Because Daily Jokes does not maintain a user account or a server-side personal profile, there is no Daily Jokes account that you need to request deletion of.
Your locally stored app information can be removed by deleting the relevant content within the app or uninstalling the app.
Information processed by Google AdMob is subject to Google’s data retention and deletion mechanisms rather than being stored in a Daily Jokes account.
15. Children’s Privacy
Daily Jokes does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The app does not require an account or request personal profile information such as a name, email address, phone number or home address.
Because Daily Jokes uses Google AdMob, advertising is also subject to Google’s applicable policies and controls concerning children and advertising.
16. Your Privacy Choices
You control several important aspects of the app:
- You can disable notifications.
- You can choose whether to use the app’s sensory features.
- You can delete your saved jokes and notebook content.
- You can stop using the app and uninstall it at any time.
- You can manage advertising and privacy controls provided by Google and Android.
Daily Jokes does not require you to create an account in order to use the app.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app’s functionality, third-party services, or legal requirements change.
The Last updated date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
